Introduction

A core remit of the BioMara project was to engage with the wider community.

A group of stakehBook and folderolders who were interested in the potential for BioMara to help with their long-term energy needs, business development or social or scientific projects were involved with the project.

 

 

Information is still available to all interested parties on this website, but there are now two other ways to keep informed about algal research.

Scottish Biofuel Programme

SAMS is one of 5 partners on this £1.6million ERDF project, led by Napier University's Biofuel Research Centre, together with the University of Edinburgh Biochar Research Centre, University of Abertay and the Scottish Agricultural College.

The Scottish Biofuel Programme works directly with small and medium sized enterprises in the Scottish business sector providing a wide range of expertise and support in the conversion of biomass waste to energy and the production of sustainable biofuels. more....

Marine Renewable Energy Knowledge Exchange Programme

The National Environment Research Council (NERC) funded Marine Renewable Energy KE programme is currently focussed on offshore wind, wave and tidal energy development. Many of the KE activities are directly relevant to demonstration and consent of large scale marine biomass facilities. For example, displacement of fisheries and knock-on socio-economic impacts, potential disturbance / new interactions with mammals and birds at development sites, as well as more generic marine planning issues.
