Scottish Biofuel Programme

The aim of the project is to engage with SMEs across Scotland to provide support and expertise in the production of biofuels and bioenergy. The Scottish Biofuel Programme benefits companies by providing

  • Analysis of waste streams and identification of potential commercial opportunities
  • Highlighting financial and environmental gains
  • Access to an Innovation Fund
  • Tailored advice on current legislation around biofuels and energy from waste

SAMS works alongside other partner institutions to develop company specific sustainable solutions for biofuels and bioenergy. SAMS brings expertise in the use of seaweed biomass for anaerobic digestion to bioenergy, fermentation to bioethanol and the use of microalgae to treat wastewater and conversion to liquid fuels.
